Case Studies
O2
O2’s
fleet has experienced a cultural change as a result of our Driver Risk Management
programme with Drive & Survive. For example instead of replacing a
windscreen, drivers now get a small chip repaired before it grows, therefore
saving the windscreen being replaced unnecessarily. Regarding incident
types, we have seen a marked reduction in the number of drivers hitting
the vehicle in front.
With accident costs, we have seen significant savings year on year, for example:
- Our vehicle insurance premium has been reduced year on year for the past three years, despite an increase in fleet size
- Our own damage costs have reduced by approx 50% over three years
- Our accident / incident ratio has also decreased by approx 50% over the three years and is now below the industry average
We are extremely pleased with how the programme with Drive & Survive
is working.
Diageo
When
Pro-Drive started dealing with Diageo PLC (the drinks giant) in 2003 the
original requirement was that any driver involved in an accident should
be given driver training. However, by 2004 we were so impressed with the
reduction in accidents of the drivers that had undertaken the training that
they agreed for every single driver to be trained.
“In addition, Diageo Plc owns Gleneagles Golf Club, which attracts a high number of high profile visitors from the USA, who were provided with a chauffeuring service by Diageo.
“Due to the current threat of terrorism, which is making Americans
more nervous than ever of international travel, Pro-Drive recommended anti-hijack
training for all chauffeurs, which was fully tailored to our requirements
and the concerns of our American visitors. ![]()
Adult Learning Inspectorate
With
160 company car drivers, driver safety and environmental efficiency is a
major focus of the ALI’s fleet policy. To help deliver the driver
safety element of their fleet policy, the ALI turned to IAM Fleet, which
provides a defensive driver training course, featuring a theory introduction,
followed by an on-road driving session and post-tuition assessment.
"The positive impact of the training is demonstrated by its results: Out of the 138 ALI drivers trained and assessed by IAM Fleet between February 2002 and December 2003, 74 per cent of delegates were rated as being low risk and 88 percent were deemed as having the ability to pass the IAM’s Advanced Driving Test with a small amount of additional training.
"The success of the ALI’s driver training programme has also
been demonstrated by a major reduction in accident claims. During the past
financial year, the ALI has reduced claims by 32 per cent from 71 to 52
cases. Analysis of the ALI’s accident statistics also revealed an
average of one ‘at fault’ claim for every million miles driven
- ten times better than the fleet sector norm of one incident for every
one hundred thousand miles driven. ![]()
